St. John's University provides modern and vibrant residential villages

At St. John’s, we take full advantage of our financial and
geographical resources – passing these benefits along to students
who live on campus. For example, each individual Hall Council is
given $3,000-$7,000 to provide free or discounted tickets to major
events in the New York metropolitan area, including New York Yankee
baseball games, museums and Broadway shows. The living conditions
you’ll find at St. John’s are second to none. We offer:
Cable Television
Campus Cable, a closed-circuit system available in all of the
residence halls, provides broadcast network channels, (ABC, NBC,
CBS, FOX), popular cable channels, (MTV, ESPN, MSG) and more.
Students must provide their own televisions and cable cords.
High-Tech Heaven
Rooms are equipped with multiple data ports to assure 24x7 access
to phone, cable and the Internet. As we like to say, we have "a
port for every pillow" so you can get online, anytime. St.
John's has also been ranked in the top ten in Intel's annual "Most Unwired College
Campuses" Survey for the last two years.
Also available are three printing stations for all student
laptops connected to the wireless network. These locations include
the first floor lobby of Donovan Hall, the first floor lobby of
Century Hall, and the second floor lounge at the Montgoris Dining
Hall.
The University issued laptops come complete with everything
needed to connect to the St. John's network. If students chose to
use a computer other than the Univerity issued laptop they will
need to supply their own Ethernet card and cable. For further

Dining Facilities
St. John's University Campus
Dining Services offers students a number of dining options and
healthy choices. The most popular place to dine is Montigoris
Dining Hall, an all-you-can-eat facility conveniently located in
the center of the Queens campus. Here, you can help yourself to an
assortment of fresh food, including grilled specials, pasta, Asian
dishes, salads, sandwiches and enticing entrees. Find out more

Reliable, 24x7 Safety and
Security
A security desk is located in the lobby of each residence hall,
which is staffed 24 hours a day to ensure the safety and
identification of those entering and leaving the building. It
is mandatory that each time residents enter a building they must
swipe and show their StormCard at the front desk. Every room
is equipped with state-of-the art life protection systems,
including fire sprinklers. St. John’s also has its own on-campus
security force, which is in direct contact with the New York Fire
Department (FDNY) and the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Additionally, emergency call boxes are always nearby. The Public

Laundry and Vending Machines
An ample supply of washers and dryers are located in the
basement of each residence hall. Money can be added to your StormCard by using the Cash to Chip
machines located by the front desk of each residence hall. Any
washer/dryer malfunctions should be reported directly to the
company we contract with. Contact information for them is placed in
the Laundry areas. They require the following information for each
service call:
Location of machine (Residence Hall name)
Machine number
Brief description of the problem, if known
Vending machines are also located in the basement and
in some lounges of each residence hall. Students may purchase
snacks, water, juice and soda.
Housekeeping
The cleanliness of the residence halls is very important to all
residents and staff. Housekeeping is responsible for the
cleanliness of the common areas of the building (i.e. hallways,
lounges, stairwells, etc). Residents are responsible for the
cleaning of their own suites/rooms. As a community member, you have
the right and responsibility to help keep our residence halls clean
and attractive.You also have the opportunity to report concerns
about cleanliness through your residence hall staff. On-going
concerns about the condition of common area facilities should be
reported promptly to your RA, or Residence Director.
Maintenance
The university provides maintenance and repair services throughout
the residence halls. It is important that you request repairs on a
regular and timely basis, so that we may properly maintain our
facilities. If you have a maintenance request or other concern
regarding the physical upkeep of your room/suite (plumbing problem,
broken heater, broken dresser, light bulb replacement etc.) you
should complete a Maintenance Request Form, located in the Office
of Residence Life, Residence Director Offices, and Resident
Assistant Offices. After office hours, emergency maintenance
problems should be referred immediately to Public Safety.
Parking
Residents must purchase a Resident Parking Permit
from Public Safety in order to park a car on campus. Only residents
in their junior or senior year and law students are permitted to
purchase residential parking stickers. Stickers are very
limited and are sold on a first come first serve basis. Students
should know that limited parking is available; parking is not
guaranteed. Overnight guests, who are parking with vehicles, must
obtain a temporary parking pass at the Public Safety Office.
Exercise and Recreational Sports
Programs
St. John’s offers on-campus weight and exercise rooms. Students can
also take advantage of the many Intramural and Club Teams that the
Department of Recreational
Sports organizes each semester. Also, enjoy live
broadcasts of St. John’s athletic teams as they compete in the Big
East.
Special Amenities
Each suite has its own fully tiled bathroom, plus spacious
windows overlooking the University’s beautifully landscaped
grounds. Furthermore, residents can control their own heating and
air-conditioning. Each student is provided with a bed, mattress and
desk.
