The School of Education – Career Change
Program
The Manhattan-based Career Change
Program at St. John’s University is an accelerated master’s
degree program designed for college graduates seeking to enter the
teaching profession in New York State Schools. The Program
earns a 42-credit Master of Science degree in either Adolescent
Education or Childhood Education, which can be completed within two
years. Students experience the Program as a cohort through
conveniently scheduled evening classes that are usually held one
night per week.
Our metropolitan location grants students the opportunity to
collaborate with a plethora of diversified educational institutions
once prepared to begin student teaching. The curriculum
provides students with the necessary fieldwork and classroom
management background to become a successful teacher as well as
with a nurturing scholastic environment so that students can pursue
both personal enhancement and professional advancement in their new
teaching career.
