September 18, 2007 12:15 PM
Council Hall, Queens Campus

Greg Forbes Siegman — and his Forrest Gump-like journey from college reject to honored graduate to substitute teacher to young philanthropist — serves as the real-life inspiration for The First Thirty by Jillip Naysinthe Paxson. The First Thirty was honored as Northeast Student Diversity Leadership Conference 2007 Multicultural Relations Book of the Year. Best known for his civic efforts, Greg has received honors such as the Jefferson Award for Public Service. He was honored at Princeton University as one of America’s top social entrepeneurs under 40. He has been featured by media such as “Good Morning America,” “College News” and “USA Today.“ Greg also writes regularly for newspapers and magazines around the country. Throughout the year, he speaks about diversity, service, philanthropy — and exploring those interests while in college — at schools around North America. He is also an artist. His collection, My Sleepless Nights, has been featured in Art World News and exhibited around North America. For more information about him, visit www.GregForbes.com.
