What is a combined degree
program?
It is your path toward an advanced degree in one of our approved
programs. Designed for highly motivated students, combined
degree Programs
allow undergraduates to earn their bachelor’s and master’s degrees
in only five years of full-time study.
St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers this
special opportunity to juniors and seniors who demonstrate the
potential for success in graduate studies within St. John’s College
along with select programs in the College of Professional
Studies.
By completing their undergraduate
requirements during their first four years, students in a
combined degree program are assured of receiving their bachelor’s
degree even if, for any reason, they are unable to complete their
fifth year. (Graduate courses completed will count as credit toward
the bachelor’s as well as the mater’s degree.) Upon successfully
completing the fifth-year requirements, students are awarded the
master’s degree.
Applicants typically complete the four
required graduate courses (12 credits) during the last four
semesters as an undergraduate.* As undergraduates, students
may take a maximum of two graduate courses in one academic semester
with permission from the program director.
