English as a Second Language

St. John’s offers an Intensive English Program (IEP) for international students who are academically qualified but have lower TOEFL scores than the University requires.

After successfully completing the IEP program, international students may begin the degree program of their choice. The Intensive English Program (IEP) is also open to any student for full-time, part-time (day or evening), and private ESL classes.

English as a Second Language Institute
The English as a Second Language Institute offers the full-time Intensive English Program (IEP), as well as part-time English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. These courses are offered in conjunction with degree programs for students requiring additional English-language support.

Prior to enrolling at St. John's, admitted international students must take an English placement test, offered by the University, to assess their English language skills
