Economics & Finance Chair Publishes: "Investment Banking and Investment Opportunities in China - A Comprehensive Guide for Finance Professionals

July 2007—Dr.  K. Thomas Liaw, Chairman of the Department of Economics and Finance at the Tobin College,  is the author of Investment Banking and Investment Opportunities in China: A Comprehensive Guide for Finance Professionals,” which was recently published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  The book is a response to China's rapidly expanding economy, the development of  a larger consumer class and better moneymaking opportunities, and provides a guide for  foreign investors, investment bankers and other financial professionals to help them maneuver through the fast-changing Chinese economic landscape.

Written for market professionals and students who seek knowledge of China, the book provides a comprehensive analysis for the practicing professionals and others in order to better understand  China. The book is comprised of three sections, that include topics such as China’s financial markets and business environment, opportunities, challenges and ways of investing in China, regulatory issues, investment banking in China and the various means investors can use to profit from China’s growth without venturing into China. 

Dr. Liaw earned his Ph.D. at Northwestern University and is the author of several books on investment banking and financial markets. His principal areas of teaching and research  include asset management, capital markets, risk management, and investment banking. He is a past president of the Chinese American Academic and Professional Society and serves as an advisor to a variety of financial services firms. He has spoken on various subjects of investment banking and capital markets at academic institutions, executive programs, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation conference, the World Bank symposium, Harvard China Review conference, and the Information Management Network conference.
