History
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship was established in hopes of
creating a network of future leaders from around the world who will
bring new vision and commitment to improving the lives of citizens
in their respective countries. Students who gain admission to the
University of Cambridge pursue one of the following courses of
study: a 2nd Bachelor's degree, 1-year postgraduate courses, or
research leading to a Ph.D. Gates Cambridge Scholarships are
full-cost awards for graduate and affiliated study in Cambridge.
The Scholarships are awarded competitively to students from all
countries in the world (except for UK). The award of a Scholarship
is absolutely conditional on the student gaining admission to
Cambridge through the University's regular procedures. The Scholars
engage in full-time intensive academic work while studying in
Cambridge. The Scholars become fully integrated into the University
and its Colleges, and, on graduation, they join Cambridge's
widespread alumni network.
