St. John’s College of Professional Studies will accept qualified transfer students who have taken one year of filmmaking from NYFA who, in turn, can matriculate into the University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Television and Film Studies program effective immediately.

“We are delighted to be partnering with the New York Film Academy and, it is fitting that we sign this agreement in Tribeca, which is the independent film capital of the world, and where the academy and quality filmmaking have received widespread acclaim,” said Dr. Frank Brady, Chair of the Department of Mass Communications at St. John’s University.

Sherlock is equally thrilled to have St. John’s as an educational arm for NYFA and is committed to the University’s curriculum in the area of film studies. He discussed plans for future scholarship opportunities and a guest lecture series with NYFA professionals at St. John’s Manhattan Campus (101 Murray Street).

Joining in the discussion were Dr. Upton, Professor Brady, Nancy McGeveran, Associate Dean of the College of Professional Studies at St. John’s University, Brian Browne, Assistant Vice President for Government Relations and Executive Director of St. John’s University’s Manhattan Campus and NYFA officials Michael Young, Provost and Director of Education and David Klein, Senior Director for NYFA.

St. John’s signed a similar Articulation Agreement with the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA) in May of 2006 as part of the University’s curriculum in its College of Professional Studies. The AADA is considered the premier acting school in the country with campuses in Manhattan and Los Angeles.
