Richard T. Lai, LL.M.
Associate Professor of Accounting and
Taxation
Associate Professor Richard T. Lai, holds an LL.M. degree in
Taxation from New York University School of Law and is currently
registered as a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts and an Attorney at Law in the State
of New York. Professor Lai has published thirteen articles in such
peer-reviewed journals as: The Practical Accountant, TAXES -
The Tax Magazine, Tax Ideas, Bank Accounting & Finance, Journal
of Southwestern Society of Economists, and the Review of
Business and in such professional tax services such as: S
Corporation - Tax Choices for Business Planning, Successful Estate
Planning Ideas, and S Corporation Service. He is also
published in two of the proceedings of the International Conference
of the New England Business Administration Association.
Professor Lai obtained his audit experience at Peat, Marwick,
Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) where he was a Tax Specialist.
He has provided extensive consulting services since 1982 in both
individual and corporate tax planning and has delivered numerous
presentations for Internal Revenue Service auditors and examiners
in their Continuing Professional Education Program. Professor Lai
is the recipient of the Student Government at St. John's University
award of Professor of the Year, Tobin College of Business,
2001-02.
