Free Seminar on “Protecting Your Financial
Future” Offered on June 7
St. John’s School of Law’s Securities Arbitration and Elder Law
Clinics will co-host Consumer Day 2008 this Saturday, June 7 at the
University Queens campus. The second annual event is a free seminar
open to the community and will address the topic of “Protecting
Your Financial Future.”
Guest speakers include individuals from the New York State
Attorney General’s Office, the Securities and Exchange Commission,
the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority as well as attorney’s
and professors from St. John’s University.
The seminar will evoke constructive dialogue pertaining to the
following topics:
- What rights do investors have and what duties do brokers
have?
- What should investors look out for with “free lunch” seminars
and variable annuities?
- What are the common scams consumers should be aware of?
- What’s next with the sub-prime mortgage crisis?
Breakfast and lunch will be served for participants in this
full-day of information and education surrounding Consumer Day
2008, which is funded in part with a grant from the New York State
Attorney General’s Office.
