As we celebrate Founder’s Week 2006, we recall our Vincentian
heritage and mission and reflect on the virtue of “Courage.”

Rev. Robert Lauder is a Professor of Philosophy in St. John’s
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D.
Philosophy from Marquette University. Fr. Lauder joined the
faculty at St. John’s University after 18 years at Cathedral
College Seminary in Douglaston. He is a weekly columnist to
the Brooklyn Tablet and The Long Island Catholic. He has also
contributed several articles to the New York Times as well as
Commonweal, Cross Currents and many other journals. Father
has published over 10 books including Loneliness is For Loving;
God, Death, Art and Love: The Philosophical Vision of Ingmar
Bergman; Nothing but Love; Walker Percy: Prophetic Existentialist,
Catholic Storyteller, Your Sacred Story and most recently,
Magnetized by God. Father has hosted film series for The
Vincentian Center, at the Immaculate Conception Center at
Douglaston and hosted TELECARE Theater on Channel 25.
Encouraging a continuing exploration of films and “Catholic”
novels as a source of understanding faith and social relationships,
Father Lauder promotes film as the “art form of our age.”
